2021 BORDEAUX VINTAGE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The 2021 Bordeaux vintage reveals a year marked by precision, expertise and resilience. Estates worked extremely hard to welcome the trade in outstanding conditions, showcasing wines that reflect both technical mastery and respect for terroir.
Following multiple tastings over the past months, our perception of the 2021 Bordeaux vintage has become clearer.
We tasted most wines two to three times since early April. One key factor stands out: grapes were harvested at optimal maturity. This is fundamental and highlights the remarkable work achieved both in the vineyards and in the cellars.
Over the past 20 years, Bordeaux has reached a new level of expertise. From vineyard management to winemaking techniques, combined with strict selection processes, the 2021 Bordeaux vintage demonstrates a level of precision that would have been difficult to achieve a decade ago.

WHAT DEFINES THE 2021 BORDEAUX VINTAGE STYLE?
The 2021 Bordeaux vintage is less powerful than recent years but offers a more classic profile, a term widely used today in Bordeaux.
Alcohol levels are moderate, generally between 13% and 13.5%, contributing to balance and drinkability. These are not light wines, but rather elegant, refined and structured.
Extraction was carefully managed, allowing winemakers to preserve freshness and avoid harsh tannins. As a result, the 2021 Bordeaux vintage shows no green or vegetal notes, only purity and finesse.
Oak usage was also handled with precision. Winemakers ensured that new oak did not dominate the aromatic profile, preserving the identity of each wine. Balance remains the key word, especially for ageing potential.

A CHALLENGING YEAR WITH OUTSTANDING RESULTS
Despite difficult climatic conditions, the 2021 Bordeaux vintage has exceeded expectations. The wines stand out for their elegance, freshness and balance.
This vintage highlights Bordeaux’s ability to adapt and innovate. It is a return to a more traditional style, focusing on terroir expression rather than power.
Special mention must be given to white wines, which performed exceptionally well across the region, even though volumes remain limited.
WHY THE 2021 BORDEAUX VINTAGE MATTERS
The 2021 Bordeaux vintage confirms a major trend in Bordeaux: a move toward finesse, precision and drinkability.
For wine lovers and collectors, this vintage offers a different experience — one that emphasizes elegance over intensity and highlights the craftsmanship behind each bottle.
